Cincinnati Baseball Earns NCAA Tournament Berth

For the first time since 2019, Cincinnati baseball is returning to the NCAA Tournament after finishing their season with a 32-24 record.

UC earned a three-seed in the Knoxville Regional and will meet No. 2 seed Wake Forest (36-20) on Friday May 30th. Tennessee, which earned the top seed in the regional, will meet Miami (OH) in the 1 v 4 match-up.

Wake Forest is one of just 17 teams to make the postseason in each of the last four seasons.

The at-large selection for Cincinnati is the first for the program since 1974.

The Bearcats solidified their resume with a season-ending series win over Kansas State, and followed that up with a win over Texas Tech (6-5) in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament in Arlington. Cincinnati lost their next game, 10-3, to the overall top seed in the Big 12 tournament, West Virginia.

Monday afternoon's announcement that Cincinnati will participate in the NCAA Tournament marks the seventh time in program history that Cincinnati is included in the 64-team field. The Bearcats' resume this season included series wins against NCAA Tournament participants Arizona State, Kansas, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State. Jordan Bischell's squad also owns six wins against Top 25 opponents and boast the Big 12 Player of the Year, Kerrington Cross.

Cross finished the season with a .399 batting average, 12 homeruns, and 49 runs batted in.
