Springboro Standout Evan Weinberg Flips to Cincinnati

The Cincinnati Bearcats added another piece to their 2026 recruiting class Monday morning, flipping Springboro (Ohio) outside linebacker and edge rusher Evan Weinberg from Central Michigan.

Weinberg, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound hybrid defender, originally committed to CMU back in June, but a pair of recent visits to Nippert Stadium helped change the trajectory of his recruitment. The senior was on hand for Cincinnati’s 38-30 win over No. 14 Iowa State on October 4, and again this past weekend for the Bearcats’ dominant defensive showing in a 20-11 victory over UCF.

The Bearcats originally offered Weinberg on September 15th. West Virginia had offered the senior pass rusher two weeks prior on September 4th.

Through eight games this fall, Weinberg has been a force for Springboro, racking up 59 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks.

What stands out on film is his ability to blend speed and power — consistently beating tackles off the snap and tracking down plays from the backside. His ball awareness and high football IQ are evident when watching his film.

With Weinberg’s pledge, Cincinnati’s 2026 class rises to 20 total commitments, continuing what’s shaping up to be a strong regional haul for head coach Scott Satterfield and his staff.

As the Bearcats look to reload their front seven for the future, Weinberg’s commitment gives them a pass rusher with traits that translate well to what is needed to succeed and win in the Big 12.

The Bearcats were recently included in both the AP and Coaches Top 25 Polls at #24, and will look to win their sixth consecutive game this Saturday when they travel to Oklahoma State for an 8 pm kickoff.
