Towson Guard Tyler Tejada Commits to Cincinnati

Cincinnati continues to reshape its roster under new head coach Jerrod Calhoun, and the Bearcats added another key piece on April 13 with the commitment of Towson transfer Tyler Tejada.

Tejada, a versatile wing from New Jersey, brings both size and production after three strong seasons with the Tigers. Listed at 6-foot-8 (around 230 pounds), he steadily developed into one of the most consistent scorers in the Coastal Athletic Association, averaging double figures in each of his three collegiate seasons. As a junior in 2025–26, he posted 17.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while playing heavy minutes (35.6 per contest).

His offensive role at Towson was significant, and he delivered with consistency—scoring in double figures in 29 of 32 games last season. Tejada also showed the ability to take over stretches of play, highlighted by a 35-point outing against Hampton and an impressive run in the CAA Tournament, where he averaged 32 points per game to help push Towson to the semifinals.

While his three-point shooting (29.1% on 148 attempts last season) still has room for growth, Tejada proved reliable at the line, knocking down 88% of his free throws and leading the conference in that category. His ability to get to the line and convert efficiently adds another dimension to his scoring profile.

Before his junior campaign, Tejada had already built an impressive résumé. He was named CAA Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2024–25 after averaging 16.7 points per game and leading Towson to a 22-win season. That year, he earned multiple honors, including All-CAA First Team, All-ECAC First Team, and recognition as a Lou Henson Award finalist. He became the program’s first CAA Player of the Year since 2013 and 2014.

Tejada made an immediate impact as a freshman as well, earning CAA Rookie of the Year honors and a spot on the league’s All-Rookie Team. He averaged just over 10 points per game that season and appeared in all 35 contests, flashing early signs of the scoring ability that would define his career.

With his size, experience, and proven scoring track record, Tejada represents a significant addition for Calhoun as he builds his first roster in Clifton.
