Cincinnati women’s basketball couldn’t hold onto a double-digit second-half lead, falling 75–71 in overtime to Miami (OH) on Wednesday afternoon.
After trailing 22–20 at halftime, the Bearcats exploded for 25 third-quarter points and built their largest lead at 53–40 with 4:21 left in the fourth. Miami answered with a 9–0 run and outscored Cincinnati 22–12 in the final period to force overtime, where the RedHawks took control by scoring 18 points on 83% shooting.
Cincinnati freshman point guard Caliyah Devillasee powered the offense with 23 points, while Mya Perry added 20, including a late three that kept the Bearcats close in OT. Freshman Kylie Torrence delivered a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Despite winning the rebounding battle (48–37) and dominating second-chance opportunities, UC struggled from the field (37%) and at the line (57%), including missing eight free throws in overtime (7-of-15).
Miami was led by Tamar Singer’s 24 points and 7 assists, while Amber Tretter posted 21 points and 11 boards. Miami finished with 44 points in the paint and capitalized at the line, going 12-for-15.
The loss drops Cincinnati to 4-5 on the season.
