Video: Satterfield, Cunningham, Sheakley Discuss New Indoor Practice Facility
Cincinnati unveiled their new $134m Indoor Practice Facility on Wednesday afternoon.
The project, which was originally approved in 2022, broke ground in May of 2023. Wednesday night provided the first opportunity for football staff and players, Athletic Director John Cunningham, President Neville Pinto, as well as key donors, and media to get a look at everything the impressive structure has to offer.
Key facts about the new facility:
- 84,000 square feet
- 120-yard field equipped for football, soccer, lacrosse, as well as four drop down batting cages for baseball use
- remote-operated cameras mounted around the facility for coaches to evaluate captured video during practice
- State of the art sound system and built in Catapult technology center
- 3,000 square foot football traning center, including: Perch Velocity-Based Training equipped lifting racks, the only pair of iron-grip 200 lb. dumbbells, custom made for defensive tackle Dontay Corleone, cardio deck featuring 30 pieces of low and non-impact equipment
- 5,700 square foot locker room featuring private shower and bathroom spaces, a barber chair, and 110 custom made lockers, featuring a built-in recliner.
- Training room with hydrotherapy pools, and underwater treadmill, float tank, sauna, steam room, and cryotherapy room
- Dining hall with an outdoor patio for an additional 100 seats, as well as a field level fuel bar for post practice and workout nutrition for football
- Players lounge featuring a small kitchen, pool and ping pong tables, recovery area, as well as a "Zen Den" featuring a dry float bed, red light laser therapy, and vibrational sound therapy.
Prior to the ribbon cutting ceremony, head coach Scott Satterfield, Athletic Director John Cunningham, and namesake donor Larry Sheakley gave their thoughts on the new facility and the impact it will have on University of Cincinnati Athletics.
